The photographic work came to an abrupt halt when the tree was toppled during Storm Katie in the Spring of 2016. This has not deterred the project. After the tree fell, Mark salvaged the parts that were usable and has seasoned them ready for making Sculpture and wall hung pieces.
The wall hangings are unique. They bring depictions of the tree in its landscape together with the timber recycled or cut from the fallen oak. Each illustrate the fine line between the beauty in life and the struggle for survival. They are symbols that now more than ever have a relevance to the way we live, the places we live, the way we choose to use the resources available to us and the changing nature of the planet we live on.
